अनुवाद

"[He] who by his radiance could burn up the worlds, shake the earth with his foot, seize [Mount] Mahameru and swiftly turn it — how could a mere child like me touch such a one, full of austerity, blazing like a kindled fire, his senses conquered? He whose mouth is fire, whose eyes are blazing, whose eyeballs are the sun and moon, whose tongue is Time itself (death) — O best of gods, how could one like me touch him? Yama, Soma, the great sages, the Sadhyas, the Vishvedevas and the Valakhilyas all tremble before his power — why should not one like me tremble? Yet, entreated thus by you, how can I not go near the sage, O lord of the gods? Only devise protection for me, so that, guarded, I may act for your sake. While I am at play with him, let the wind bare me, O god; and by your divine grace, let Manmatha (the god of love) become my helper in that task; and while I am beguiling that sage, let a fragrant breeze blow from the forest." "So be it," said Indra; and when this had been arranged, she set out for the hermitage of Kaushika (Vishvamitra).
