भीमसेनस् तु राजेन्द्र भीमवेगपराक्रमः ॥
जगाम भ्रातॄन् आदाय सर्वान् मातरम् एव च ॥

पार्थौ गृहीत्वा पाणिभ्यां भ्रातरौ सुमहाबलौ ॥
तरसा पादपान् भञ्जन् महीं पद्भ्यां विदारयन् ॥
स जगामाशु तेजस्वी वातरंहा वृकोदरः ॥
bhīmasenas tu rājendra bhīmavegaparākramaḥ ||
jagāma bhrātṝn ādāya sarvān mātaram eva ca ||
skandham āropya jananīṃ yamāv aṅkena vīryavān ||
pārthau gṛhītvā pāṇibhyāṃ bhrātarau sumahābalau ||
tarasā pādapān bhañjan mahīṃ padbhyāṃ vidārayan ||
sa jagāmāśu tejasvī vātaraṃhā vṛkodaraḥ ||
"But Bhimasena, o lord of kings, possessor of fearsome speed and might, went, taking all his brothers and his mother: placing his mother on his shoulder, the twins on his hips, the valiant one, and taking the two Parthas, his brothers, in his hands, the mighty one, swiftly breaking trees and tearing up the earth with his feet, he went quickly, the radiant Vrikodara, swift as the wind."

Here Bhima's strength becomes the salvation of the whole line. It is telling that the gift of the wind-god — his might — is turned to service: Bhima carries at once his mother and four brothers, racing like the wind. Here is shown for what purpose strength is given to the righteous: not for pride and violence, but to lift up and save one's kin in the hour of danger. It is telling that the strongest becomes the support of the weakest: he carries the exhausted, bearing their weakness upon himself. In this is an image of true service: let the strong serve the weak, bearing his burden. So the scripture shows how bodily might, inborn of Vayu, saves the righteous from the fire by Providence, and how in the hour of trial every gift turns to good: Yudhishthira's vigilance, Vidura's faithfulness, Bhima's strength — all together deliver them from the trap.
