आपतत्य् एष दुष्टात्मा संक्रुद्धः पुरुषादकः ॥
त्वाम् अहं भ्रातृभिः सार्धं यद् ब्रवीमि तथा कुरु ॥
अहं कामगमा वीर रक्षोबलसमन्विता ॥
आरुहेमां मम श्रोणीं नेष्यामि त्वां विहायसा ॥
प्रबोधयैनान् संसुप्तान् मातरं च परंतप ॥
सर्वान् एव गमिष्यामि गृहीत्वा वो विहायसा ॥

tvām ahaṃ bhrātṛbhiḥ sārdhaṃ yad bravīmi tathā kuru ||
ahaṃ kāmagamā vīra rakṣobalasamanvitā ||
āruhemāṃ mama śroṇīṃ neṣyāmi tvāṃ vihāyasā ||
prabodhayainān saṃsuptān mātaraṃ ca paraṃtapa ||
sarvān eva gamiṣyāmi gṛhītvā vo vihāyasā ||
Hidimba said: "This evil-souled, enraged man-eater rushes on; do what I tell you, together with your brothers. I, O hero, move at will, endowed with the strength of rakshasas; mount upon this my hip, and I will carry you through the air. Wake these sleeping ones and mother, O scorcher of foes, and I will carry all of you through the air."

Here the love of the rakshasi shows itself in readiness to save. It is telling that she offers her strength not for evil but for the deliverance of the one she loves and his kin: a gift that once served predation is now turned to rescue. So a transformed heart turns former abilities toward good: what served darkness can serve light. Telling too is that she cares for all of them -- for the mother and for Bhima's brothers alike: true love is wide, it embraces those dear to the beloved as well.
