Here the passion for sole sovereignty exposes the root of the scheme. It is telling that the goal is 'enjoy this entire earth': greed for undivided power drives the counsel, cloaked in talk of valor. Here it is disclosed that covetousness for power blinds, driving one to war against one's own kin for the sake of the throne. Thus the scripture reveals the hidden motive of the counsel; and the thirst for sole rule leads the Kauravas to ruin.
