येनोत्सङ्गे गृहीतस्य भुजाव् अभ्यधिकाव् उभौ ॥
पतिष्यतः क्षितितले पञ्चशीर्षाव् इवोरगौ ॥
तृतीयम् एतद् बालस्य ललाटस्थं च लोचनम् ॥
निमज्जिष्यति यं दृष्ट्वा सो ऽस्य मृत्युर् भविष्यति ॥

The omen of death is at the same time an omen of healing: at the encounter with the one destined, the deformity will fall away -- the extra arms will drop off, the third eye will close. Tellingly, the one named "death" is also the one whose touch restores the form to its natural state. The verse reveals a mystery: destroyer and deliverer are one; at the touch of the Lord the misshapen becomes whole, and the one who will bring the end first shows mercy, lifting the mark of monstrousness. Thus death itself, from the hand of the Supreme, appears not merely as punishment but as completion, in which the creature returns to what it should be; and the Lord's approach heals before it strikes.
