विराटेन तु मत्स्येन बल्यर्थं हेममालिनाम् ॥
कुञ्जराणां सहस्रे द्वे मत्तानां समुपाहृते ॥
पांशुराष्ट्राद् वसुदानो राजा षड्विंशतिं गजान् ॥
अश्वानां च सहस्रे द्वे राजन् काञ्चनमालिनाम् ॥
जवसत्त्वोपपन्नानां वयःस्थानां नराधिप ॥
बलिं च कृत्स्नम् आदाय पाण्डवेभ्यो न्यवेदयत् ॥
यज्ञसेनेन दासीनां सहस्राणि चतुर्दश ॥
दासानाम् अयुतं चैव सदाराणां विशां पते ॥
गजयुक्ता महाराज रथाः षड्विंशतिस् तथा ॥
राज्यं च कृत्स्नं पार्थेभ्यो यज्ञार्थं वै निवेदितम् ॥

By Virāṭa, king of Matsya, for tribute, two thousand gold-garlanded elephants in must were presented. Vasudāna, king from Pāṃśurāṣṭra, gave twenty-six elephants and two thousand horses, O king, gold-garlanded, endowed with speed and vigor, in their prime, and, having taken the entire tribute, presented it to the Pāṇḍavas. By Yajñasena [Drupada] — fourteen thousand maidservants and ten thousand manservants with their wives, O lord of the people, and twenty-six elephant-yoked chariots, and the entire kingdom was entrusted to the Pārthas for the sake of the sacrifice.

Drupada entrusts to the Pāṇḍavas 'the entire kingdom for the sake of the sacrifice.' It is telling that the offering reaches its very limit — not a part but the whole is given: the father-in-law lays down at the sacrifice the kingdom itself. The verse teaches the true measure of an offering — it does not measure out but gives entirely, holding nothing back for itself. Where others bring loads and hundreds, a loving kinsman gives his realm. And the true measure of a gift is not its size but the fullness of self-surrender: to entrust 'all for the sake of the sacrifice' is worth more than heaps of gold. The envious one, counting others' gifts, fails to grasp that it is not wealth being offered here but the heart; and a heart that gives everything is richer than all the treasures that can be counted.
