Vaishampayana said: "When they came to that forest, they all together saw a beautiful lake covered with blooming lotuses. They saw also the great Bhima standing on its bank, and the slain, wide-eyed yakshas. Standing by the river with his mace raised in both hands, he looked like Antaka with his staff at the time of the destruction of beings. Seeing him, the Dharmaraja embraced Bhima again and again and said gently: 'Kaunteya, what have you done? Well may it be for you, but this rashness displeases even the gods. If you wish to please me, do not act so again.' Having admonished Bhima and taken the lotuses, they, like the immortals, rested by that lake. At that very moment there appeared the huge guardians of the garden, weapons of stone in hand. But seeing the Dharmaraja, the divine sage Lomasha, Nakula, Sahadeva, and the foremost brahmins, they bowed humbly and fell prostrate. Soothed by the Dharmaraja, the night-wanderers grew calm. Kubera learned of the heroes, and the best of men, the descendants of Kuru, dwelt there a short while in joy."

Yudhishthira does not deny Bhima's love and accepts the flowers, yet he calls rashness by its name. In this balance lies royal dharma: to preserve the bond without losing measure.
