वैशंपायन उवाच
तस्य ताम् अभयां वाचं श्रुत्वा योधाः समागताः ॥
आयुःकीर्तियशोदाभिस् तम् आशिर्भिर् अनन्दयन् ॥
ततो निवृत्ताः कुरवः प्रभग्ना वशम् आस्थिताः ॥
पन्थानम् उपसंगम्य फल्गुनो वाक्यम् अब्रवीत् ॥
राजपुत्र प्रत्यवेक्ष समानीतानि सर्वशः ॥
गोकुलानि महाबाहो वीर गोपालकैः सह ॥
ततो ऽपराह्णे यास्यामो विराटनगरं प्रति ॥
आश्वास्य पाययित्वा च परिप्लाव्य च वाजिनः ॥
गच्छन्तु त्वरिताश् चैव गोपालाः प्रेषितास् त्वया ॥
नगरे प्रियम् आख्यातुं घोषयन्तु च ते जयम् ॥
वैशंपायन उवाच
उत्तरस् त्वरमाणो ऽथ दूतान् आज्ञापयत् ततः ॥
वचनाद् अर्जुनस्यैव आचक्षध्वं जयं मम ॥

अनुवाद

Having heard this word granting safety, the warriors who had gathered rejoiced Arjuna with blessings of long life, glory, and honor. Then the routed Kurus, submitting, turned back onto their road, and Phalguna spoke these words: "Prince, look: all the herds have been fully recovered, together with their cowherds, mighty-armed hero. After midday we shall set out toward Virata's city, once we have rested the horses, watered them, and bathed them. Let the cowherds you have sent go swiftly to the city to announce the good news and proclaim your victory." Vaishampayana said: Then Uttara, hastening, commanded the messengers: "Declare, in Arjuna's own words, my victory."
