अनुवाद

Then, in the house of Matsya as he was joining with the Parthas, conches, bherīs, gomukhas and drums resounded. They slew many kinds of animals fit for the rite, and hundreds of pure sacrificial beasts; abundant drinks — surā and maireya — were brought forth. Singers, storytellers, actors, minstrels, bards and heralds stood by, praising them. The women of the Matsyas, led by Sudeshna, lovely in every limb, with bright jeweled earrings, came to Uttara. These women were beautiful, noble, and adorned, but Krishna surpassed them all in beauty, glory and splendor. Surrounding the adorned princess Uttara, they presented her as if she were the daughter of great Indra. Dhananjaya accepted Virata's flawless daughter for the sake of his son Saubhadra. There the great king who bore the form of Indra, Kunti's son Yudhishthira, received this daughter-in-law. Having accepted her, Partha placed Janardana at the fore and had the wedding of the great-souled Saubhadra performed. At that time Virata gave him seven thousand horses swift as the wind, two hundred of the finest elephants, and great wealth. When the wedding was accomplished, Dharma's son Yudhishthira gave the brahmins the wealth that Achyuta had brought: thousands of cows, jewels, various garments, the finest ornaments, carriages and couches. The city of the king of the Matsyas, resembling a great festival and filled with joyful, well-fed people, shone forth, O best of the Bharatas.
