देवदानवयक्षाणाम् ऋषीणां रक्षसां तथा ॥
पितृगन्धर्वभूतानां चक्षुर्विषयवर्तिनाम् ॥
तेज आदास्यसे पश्यन् बलवांश् च भविष्यसि ॥
धर्मं पुरस्कृत्य सदा सर्वलोकाधिपो भव ॥
ब्रह्मर्षींश् चापि देवांश् च गोपायस्व त्रिविष्टपे ॥
सुदुर्लभं वरं लब्ध्वा प्राप्य राज्यं त्रिविष्टपे ॥
धर्मात्मा सततं भूत्वा कामात्मा समपद्यत ॥
देवोद्यानेषु सर्वेषु नन्दनोपवनेषु च ॥
कैलासे हिमवत्पृष्ठे मन्दरे श्वेतपर्वते ॥
सह्ये महेन्द्रे मलये समुद्रेषु सरित्सु च ॥
अप्सरोभिः परिवृतो देवकन्यासमावृतः ॥
नहुषो देवराजः सन् क्रीडन् बहुविधं तदा ॥
devadānavayakṣāṇām ṛṣīṇāṃ rakṣasāṃ tathā ||
pitṛgandharvabhūtānāṃ cakṣurviṣayavartinām ||
teja ādāsyase paśyan balavāṃś ca bhaviṣyasi ||
dharmaṃ puraskṛtya sadā sarvalokādhipo bhava ||
brahmarṣīṃś cāpi devāṃś ca gopāyasva triviṣṭape ||
sudurlabhaṃ varaṃ labdhvā prāpya rājyaṃ triviṣṭape ||
dharmātmā satataṃ bhūtvā kāmātmā samapadyata ||
devodyāneṣu sarveṣu nandanopavaneṣu ca ||
kailāse himavatpṛṣṭhe mandare śvetaparvate ||
sahye mahendre malaye samudreṣu saritsu ca ||
apsarobhiḥ parivṛto devakanyāsamāvṛtaḥ ||
nahuṣo devarājaḥ san krīḍan bahuvidhaṃ tadā ||
'Be consecrated, O lord of kings, as king of the heavens. Whatever being stands before your gaze — be it a god, an Asura, a Yaksha, a sage, a Pitri, or a Gandharva — you shall absorb its power and thereby grow strong. Ever placing virtue above all else, be you the ruler of the worlds. Protect also the brahmarishis (the holy brahmins) and the gods in heaven.' Then, O lord of kings, Nahusha was crowned king in heaven. And having placed virtue above all else, he became ruler of all the worlds — of the celestial nymphs and maidens of heavenly birth — and he took his pleasure in manifold delights in the groves of Nandana, on Mount Kailasa, on the ridge of Himavat, on Mandara, on the White Hill of Sahya, on Mahendra and Malaya, and also on the seas and rivers.
