लाभालाभौ प्रियद्वेष्यौ यथैनं न जरान्तकौ ॥
विषहेरन् भयामर्षौ क्षुत्पिपासे मदोद्भवौ ॥
अरतिश् चैव तन्द्री च कामक्रोधौ क्षयोदयौ ॥

lābhālābhau priyadveṣyau yathainaṃ na jarāntakau ||
viṣaheran bhayāmarṣau kṣutpipāse madodbhavau ||
aratiś caiva tandrī ca kāmakrodhau kṣayodayau ||

अनुवाद

Therefore it behooves you to expound this, so that, hearing your words, this foremost of men may overcome all these sorrows -- gain and loss, the pleasant and the unpleasant, decrepitude and death, fear and jealousy, hunger and thirst, pride and prosperity, aversion, sleep, lust and anger, as well as decline and increase -- may all of this be borne by him!
