अदित्यां य इमे जाता बलविक्रमशालिनः ॥
त्वम् एषां किल सर्वेषां विशेषाद् बलवत्तरः ॥
सो ऽहं पक्षैकदेशेन वहामि त्वां गतक्लमः ॥
विमृश त्वं शनैस् तात को न्व् अत्र बलवान् इति ॥
कण्व उवाच
तस्य तद् वचनं श्रुत्वा खगस्योदर्कदारुणम् ॥
अक्षोभ्यं क्षोभयंस् तार्क्ष्यम् उवाच रथचक्रभृत् ॥
गरुत्मन् मन्यसे ऽऽत्मानं बलवन्तं सुदुर्बलम् ॥
अलम् अस्मत्समक्षं ते स्तोतुम् आत्मानम् अण्डज ॥
त्रैलोक्यम् अपि मे कृत्स्नम् अशक्तं देहधारणे ॥
अहम् एवात्मनात्मानं वहामि त्वां च धारये ॥
adityāṃ ya ime jātā balavikramaśālinaḥ ||
tvam eṣāṃ kila sarveṣāṃ viśeṣād balavattaraḥ ||
so 'haṃ pakṣaikadeśena vahāmi tvāṃ gataklamaḥ ||
vimṛśa tvaṃ śanais tāta ko nv atra balavān iti ||
kaṇva uvāca
tasya tad vacanaṃ śrutvā khagasyodarkadāruṇam ||
akṣobhyaṃ kṣobhayaṃs tārkṣyam uvāca rathacakrabhṛt ||
garutman manyase ''tmānaṃ balavantaṃ sudurbalam ||
alam asmatsamakṣaṃ te stotum ātmānam aṇḍaja ||
trailokyam api me kṛtsnam aśaktaṃ dehadhāraṇe ||
aham evātmanātmānaṃ vahāmi tvāṃ ca dhāraye ||
These and many others are among the sons of Kashyapa. Look, O Matali, and see whether there is anyone here you may choose.' Kanva continued: 'Matali, meanwhile, gazed attentively at the man standing nearby. And after Narada had fallen silent, the celestial charioteer, his mind satisfied, questioned the Rishi, saying: Of what lineage is this admirable youth of great splendor, who stands before Aryaka of the race of Kauravya?'
