प्रतीक्षिष्याम्य् अहं कालम् एतावन्तं तथा परम् ॥
यथा संसिध्यते विप्र स मार्गस् तु निशम्यताम् ॥
सुपर्णो ऽथाब्रवीद् दीनं गालवं भृशदुःखितम् ॥
प्रत्यक्षं खल्व् इदानीं मे विश्वामित्रो यद् उक्तवान् ॥
तद् आगच्छ द्विजश्रेष्ठ मन्त्रयिष्याव गालव ॥
नादत्त्वा गुरवे शक्यं कृत्स्नम् अर्थं त्वयासितुम् ॥

pratīkṣiṣyāmy ahaṃ kālam etāvantaṃ tathā param ||
yathā saṃsidhyate vipra sa mārgas tu niśamyatām ||
suparṇo 'thābravīd dīnaṃ gālavaṃ bhṛśaduḥkhitam ||
pratyakṣaṃ khalv idānīṃ me viśvāmitro yad uktavān ||
tad āgaccha dvijaśreṣṭha mantrayiṣyāva gālava ||
nādattvā gurave śakyaṃ kṛtsnam arthaṃ tvayāsitum ||

अनुवाद

"I shall wait this much time and even longer, O brahmin. Now hear the way by which this matter may be brought to completion." Then Suparna said to Galava, dejected and deeply grieved: "Now it is clear to me what Vishvamitra said. Come, O best of the twice-born, Galava, let us take counsel together: without giving the teacher the whole of the promised payment, you cannot remain at ease."
