वासुदेव उवाच
एवम् उक्ते तु भीष्मेण द्रोणेन विदुरेण च ॥
गान्धार्या धृतराष्ट्रेण न च मन्दो ऽन्वबुध्यत ॥
अवधूयोत्थितः क्रुद्धो रोषात् संरक्तलोचनः ॥
अन्वद्रवन्त तं पश्चाद् राजानस् त्यक्तजीविताः ॥
अज्ञापयच् च राज्ञस् तान् पार्थिवान् दुष्टचेतसः ॥
प्रयाध्वं वै कुरुक्षेत्रं पुष्यो ऽद्येति पुनः पुनः ॥
ततस् ते पृथिवीपालाः प्रययुः सहसैनिकाः ॥
भीष्मं सेनापतिं कृत्वा संहृष्टाः कालचोदिताः ॥
अक्षौहिण्यो दशैका च पार्थिवानां समागताः ॥
तासां प्रमुखतो भीष्मस् तालकेतुर् व्यरोचत ॥
यद् अत्र युक्तं प्राप्तं च तद् विधत्स्व विशां पते ॥

ajñāpayac ca rājñas tān pārthivān duṣṭacetasaḥ ||
prayādhvaṃ vai kurukṣetraṃ puṣyo 'dyeti punaḥ punaḥ ||
tatas te pṛthivīpālāḥ prayayuḥ sahasainikāḥ ||
bhīṣmaṃ senāpatiṃ kṛtvā saṃhṛṣṭāḥ kālacoditāḥ ||
akṣauhiṇyo daśaikā ca pārthivānāṃ samāgatāḥ ||
tāsāṃ pramukhato bhīṣmas tālaketur vyarocata ||
yad atra yuktaṃ prāptaṃ ca tad vidhatsva viśāṃ pate ||
Vasudeva said: When Bhishma, Drona, Vidura, Gandhari, and Dhritarashtra had said all this, the fool still did not come to his senses. In anger he rose abruptly, shaking off their words, his eyes reddened with fury. The kings, ready to give up their lives, followed after him. That evil-minded one commanded those kings and rulers again and again: "Set out for Kurukshetra; today is the Pushya asterism." Then those guardians of the earth set out with their armies, having made Bhishma their commander; exultant, they were driven by time. Eleven akshauhinis of kings gathered together, and at their head shone Bhishma, whose standard bore the palm. Whatever is fitting and has now come to pass, do that, O lord of the people.
