देवनागरी
एवं ते समयं कृत्वा कुरुपाण्डवसोमकाः ॥
विस्मयं परमं जग्मुः प्रेक्षमाणाः परस्परम् ॥
निविश्य च महात्मानस् ततस् ते पुरुषर्षभाः ॥
हृष्टरूपाः सुमनसो बभूवुः सहसैनिकाः ॥

Thus, having made their agreement, the Kurus, Pandavas, and Somakas fell into great astonishment, gazing at one another. Then these great-souled foremost of men, having encamped, became joyful of face and glad of heart, together with their soldiers.

They already stand on the brink of destruction, yet they are still able to look at one another not as prey but as fellow bearers of duty. This brief joy is tragic: dharma has been named, but it will soon be tested by the war itself.
