अनुवाद

This region is Bharata-varsha; beyond it lies Haimavata. Further still, beyond Hemakuta, they call it Harivarsha. To the south of Nila and to the north of Nishadha, O great king, stretches eastward the mountain called Malyavan; beyond Malyavan stands the mountain Gandhamadana. Between them lies round Meru, the golden mountain. It shines like the rising sun, like a smokeless fire; it is said to descend sixteen thousand yojanas below, and to rise, O lord of the earth, eighty-four thousand above. Rising upward, reaching inward, and stretching across, it encompasses the worlds. On its flanks, O lord, are situated four dvipas: Bhadrashva, Ketumala, Jambudvipa, and the northern Kurus, refuge of those who have won holy merit.
