योगयुक्तो विशुद्धात्मा विजितात्मा जितेन्द्रियः ॥
सर्वभूतात्मभूतात्मा कुर्वन्न् अपि न लिप्यते ॥
नैव किं चित् करोमीति युक्तो मन्येत तत्त्ववित् ॥
पश्यञ् शृण्वन् स्पृशञ् जिघ्रन्न् अश्नन् गच्छन् स्वपञ् श्वसन् ॥
प्रलपन् विसृजन् गृह्णन्न् उन्मिषन् निमिषन्न् अपि ॥
इन्द्रियाणीन्द्रियार्थेषु वर्तन्त इति धारयन् ॥
ब्रह्मण्य् आधाय कर्माणि सङ्गं त्यक्त्वा करोति यः ॥
लिप्यते न स पापेन पद्मपत्रम् इवाम्भसा ॥
कायेन मनसा बुद्ध्या केवलैर् इन्द्रियैर् अपि ॥
योगिनः कर्म कुर्वन्ति सङ्गं त्यक्त्वात्मशुद्धये ॥
युक्तः कर्मफलं त्यक्त्वा शान्तिम् आप्नोति नैष्ठिकीम् ॥
अयुक्तः कामकारेण फले सक्तो निबध्यते ॥

yogayukto viśuddhātmā vijitātmā jitendriyaḥ ||
sarvabhūtātmabhūtātmā kurvann api na lipyate ||
naiva kiṃ cit karomīti yukto manyeta tattvavit ||
paśyañ śṛṇvan spṛśañ jighrann aśnan gacchan svapañ śvasan ||
pralapan visṛjan gṛhṇann unmiṣan nimiṣann api ||
indriyāṇīndriyārtheṣu vartanta iti dhārayan ||
brahmaṇy ādhāya karmāṇi saṅgaṃ tyaktvā karoti yaḥ ||
lipyate na sa pāpena padmapatram ivāmbhasā ||
kāyena manasā buddhyā kevalair indriyair api ||
yoginaḥ karma kurvanti saṅgaṃ tyaktvātmaśuddhaye ||
yuktaḥ karmaphalaṃ tyaktvā śāntim āpnoti naiṣṭhikīm ||
ayuktaḥ kāmakāreṇa phale sakto nibadhyate ||

शब्दशः अर्थ

योगयुक्तो विशुद्धात्माyogayukto viśuddhātmāunited with yoga, purified in self; a yogin with a purified heart
विजितात्मा जितेन्द्रियःvijitātmā jitendriyaḥwho has conquered the self, conquered the senses; who is master of himself and his senses
सर्वभूतात्मभूतात्माsarvabhūtātmabhūtātmāwhose atman has become the atman of all beings; seeing himself in all living beings
कुर्वन्न् अपि न लिप्यतेkurvann api na lipyateeven while acting, is not tainted; even while acting, remains untouched
नैव किं चित् करोमीतिnaiva kiṃ cit karomīti"I do nothing at all"; "I do absolutely nothing"
युक्तो मन्येत तत्त्ववित्yukto manyeta tattvavitso the yogin who knows the truth should think; thus thinks the one united with truth
पश्यञ् शृण्वन् स्पृशञ्paśyañ śṛṇvan spṛśañseeing, hearing, touching; when he sees, hears, touches
जिघ्रन्न् अश्नन् गच्छन्jighrann aśnan gacchansmelling, eating, walking; smells, eats, moves
स्वपञ् श्वसन्svapañ śvasansleeping, breathing; sleeps and breathes
प्रलपन् विसृजन् गृह्णन्न्pralapan visṛjan gṛhṇannspeaking, releasing, grasping; talks, lets go, takes
उन्मिषन् निमिषन्न् अपिunmiṣan nimiṣann apiopening and closing the eyes; even while blinking
इन्द्रियाणीन्द्रियार्थेषुindriyāṇīndriyārtheṣuthe senses among the objects of the senses; the organs among the objects of the senses
वर्तन्त इति धारयन्vartanta iti dhārayanso holding that they merely move; understanding thus that they are in motion
ब्रह्मण्य् आधाय कर्माणिbrahmaṇy ādhāya karmāṇihaving placed his actions in Brahman; having laid his deeds upon Brahman
सङ्गं त्यक्त्वा करोति यःsaṅgaṃ tyaktvā karoti yaḥwho acts having abandoned attachment; who acts without clinging
लिप्यते न स पापेनlipyate na sa pāpenahe is not stained by sin; evil does not taint him
पद्मपत्रम् इवाम्भसाpadmapatram ivāmbhasāas a lotus leaf by water; just as a lotus leaf by water
कायेन मनसा बुद्ध्याkāyena manasā buddhyāwith body, mind, and buddhi; with body, reason, and thought
केवलैर् इन्द्रियैर् अपिkevalair indriyair apiand with the senses alone as well; even with the senses alone
योगिनः कर्म कुर्वन्तिyoginaḥ karma kurvantiyogins perform action; practitioners do their deeds
सङ्गं त्यक्त्वात्मशुद्धयेsaṅgaṃ tyaktvātmaśuddhayehaving abandoned attachment, for the purification of the self; without clinging, for the purity of the atman
युक्तः कर्मफलं त्यक्त्वाyuktaḥ karmaphalaṃ tyaktvāthe yogin, having abandoned the fruit of action; the united one, having cast off the fruit of deeds
शान्तिम् आप्नोति नैष्ठिकीम्śāntim āpnoti naiṣṭhikīmattains final peace; obtains steadfast peace
अयुक्तः कामकारेणayuktaḥ kāmakāreṇathe unyoked one, driven by desire; the non-yogin, moved by desire
फले सक्तो निबध्यतेphale sakto nibadhyateattached to the fruit, becomes bound; clinging to the result, is bound
अनुवाद

"United with yoga, purified in heart, having conquered himself and his senses, seeing himself in all beings, he is not tainted even while acting. Knowing the truth and united with yoga, he thinks: 'I do nothing at all,' when he sees, hears, touches, smells, eats, walks, sleeps, breathes, speaks, releases, grasps, opens and closes his eyes, understanding: 'The senses move among the objects of the senses.' Whoever acts having placed his actions upon Brahman and abandoned attachment is not stained by sin, as a lotus leaf is untouched by water. Yogins perform action with body, mind, buddhi, and even with the senses alone, having abandoned attachment, for the purification of the self. United with yoga, having abandoned the fruit of action, one attains steadfast peace; the one not united, driven by desire and attached to the fruit, becomes bound."
