ददृशुः सर्वराजानः कुरवः पाण्डवास् तथा ॥
ततः सांयमनिः क्रुद्धः पार्षतं परवीरहा ॥
आजघान त्रिभिर् बाणैस् तोत्त्रैर् इव महाद्विपम् ॥
तथैव पार्षतं शूरं शल्यः समितिशोभनः ॥
आजघानोरसि क्रुद्धस् ततो युद्धम् अवर्तत ॥
tataḥ sāṃyamaniḥ kruddho dṛṣṭvā nihatam ātmajam ||
abhidudrāva vegena pāñcālyaṃ yuddhadurmadam ||
tau tatra samare vīrau sametau rathināṃ varau ||
dadṛśuḥ sarvarājānaḥ kuravaḥ pāṇḍavās tathā ||
tataḥ sāṃyamaniḥ kruddhaḥ pārṣataṃ paravīrahā ||
ājaghāna tribhir bāṇais tottrair iva mahādvipam ||
tathaiva pārṣataṃ śūraṃ śalyaḥ samitiśobhanaḥ ||
ājaghānorasi kruddhas tato yuddham avartata ||
Then Samyamani, enraged, seeing his son slain, rushed forward with force at the Panchala prince, intoxicated with battle. There in the fight, those two heroes, the finest of charioteers, met, and all the kings, as well as the Kurus and Pandavas, watched them. The enraged Samyamani struck Parshata, slayer of enemy heroes, with three arrows, as one strikes a great elephant with goads. Likewise Shalya, the ornament of battle, in fury struck the hero Parshata in the chest; then the battle raged anew.
