अनुवाद

The mighty king of Kamboja held back Abhimanyu in battle, who was then advancing, having risen up against Bhishma. The son of Arjuna pierced the king with curved-jointed arrows, and then, O king, wounded this lord again with sixty-four arrows. Sudakshina, striving to protect Bhishma's life, pierced Karshni with five arrows in the fight, and his charioteer with nine. A great battle arose between them when Shikhandi, the tormentor of foes, rushed at the son of Ganga. The aged Virata and Drupada, two great chariot-warriors, holding back the mighty army, furiously charged at Bhishma in the battle. Then the enraged Ashvatthaman, best of chariot-warriors, came forward to meet them, and between your men and theirs, O Bharata, the fighting began. Virata struck Drauni, the great archer, the ornament of battle, who was striving hard, with ten bhalla arrows. Drupada too, meeting the teacher's son standing before Bhishma, likewise pierced him with three sharp arrows. Thereupon Ashvatthaman wounded the aged Virata and Drupada, who had risen against Bhishma, with ten arrows each. There we beheld a wonder, the great deed of these two elders: how they warded off in battle the terrible arrows of Drauni.
