तस्य तन् मतम् आज्ञाय पाण्डवः सत्यदर्शनः ॥
भीष्मं प्रतिययौ यत्तः संग्रामे सह सृञ्जयैः ॥
धृष्टद्युम्नस् ततो राजन् पाण्डवश् च युधिष्ठिरः ॥
श्रुत्वा भीष्मस्य तां वाचं चोदयाम् आसतुर् बलम् ॥
अभिद्रवत युध्यध्वं भीष्मं जयत संयुगे ॥
रक्षिताः सत्यसंधेन जिष्णुना रिपुजिष्णुना ॥
अयं चापि महेष्वासः पार्षतो वाहिनीपतिः ॥
भीमसेनश् च समरे पालयिष्यति वो ध्रुवम् ॥
न वै भीष्माद् भयं किं चित् कर्तव्यं युधि सृञ्जयाः ॥
ध्रुवं भीष्मं विजेष्यामः पुरस्कृत्य शिखण्डिनम् ॥

śrutvā bhīṣmasya tāṃ vācaṃ codayām āsatur balam ||
abhidravata yudhyadhvaṃ bhīṣmaṃ jayata saṃyuge ||
rakṣitāḥ satyasaṃdhena jiṣṇunā ripujiṣṇunā ||
ayaṃ cāpi maheṣvāsaḥ pārṣato vāhinīpatiḥ ||
bhīmasenaś ca samare pālayiṣyati vo dhruvam ||
na vai bhīṣmād bhayaṃ kiṃ cit kartavyaṃ yudhi sṛñjayāḥ ||
dhruvaṃ bhīṣmaṃ vijeṣyāmaḥ puraskṛtya śikhaṇḍinam ||

भीष्मम् प्रतिययौ यत्तःbhīṣmam pratiyayau yattaḥwent toward Bhishma, intent; advanced upon Bhishma
संग्रामे सह सृञ्जयैःsaṃgrāme saha sṛñjayaiḥin battle together with the Srinjayas; in the fight along with the Srinjayas
धृष्टद्युम्नः ततः राजन्dhṛṣṭadyumnaḥ tataḥ rājanDhrishtadyumna then, O king; after this Dhrishtadyumna
पाण्डवः च युधिष्ठिरःpāṇḍavaḥ ca yudhiṣṭhiraḥand the Pandava Yudhishthira; and Yudhishthira the Pandava
श्रुत्वा भीष्मस्य ताम् वाचम्śrutvā bhīṣmasya tām vācamhaving heard that speech of Bhishma; having listened to the grandsire's word
चोदयाम् आसतुः बलम्codayām āsatuḥ balamurged on the army; roused the host
अभिद्रवत युध्यध्वम्abhidravata yudhyadhvamattack, fight; charge forward, strike
भीष्मम् जयत संयुगेbhīṣmam jayata saṃyugeconquer Bhishma in battle; overcome Bhishma
रक्षिताः सत्यसंधेनrakṣitāḥ satyasaṃdhenaprotected by the one true to his word; guarded by the truthful one
जिष्णुना रिपुजिष्णुनाjiṣṇunā ripujiṣṇunāby Jishnu, conqueror of foes; by Arjuna, vanquisher of enemies
अयम् च अपि महेष्वासःayam ca api maheṣvāsaḥand this great archer as well; also this mighty bowman
पार्षतः वाहिनीपतिःpārṣataḥ vāhinīpatiḥParshata, commander of the host; Dhrishtadyumna the general
भीमसेनः च समरेbhīmasenaḥ ca samareand Bhimasena in the fight; also Bhima on the field
पालयिष्यति वः ध्रुवम्pālayiṣyati vaḥ dhruvamwill surely protect you; will certainly guard you
न वै भीष्मात् भयम् किंचित्na vai bhīṣmāt bhayam kiṃcitno fear at all from Bhishma; do not fear Bhishma in the least
कर्तव्यम् युधि सृञ्जयाःkartavyam yudhi sṛñjayāḥneed be felt in battle, O Srinjayas; should be had in the fight
ध्रुवम् भीष्मम् विजेष्यामःdhruvam bhīṣmam vijeṣyāmaḥwe shall surely conquer Bhishma; we will certainly overcome Bhishma
पुरस्कृत्य शिखण्डिनम्puraskṛtya śikhaṇḍinamplacing Shikhandin in front; putting Shikhandin forward
अनुवाद

Having understood his intent, the truthful Pandava advanced toward Bhishma with resolve in battle, together with the Srinjayas. Then Dhrishtadyumna and the Pandava Yudhishthira, O king, having heard that speech of Bhishma, urged on their army: "Attack, fight, conquer Bhishma in battle! You are protected by Jishnu, the truthful conqueror of foes. And this great archer, Parshata, commander of the host, as well as Bhimasena, will surely guard you in the fight. Fear nothing at all from Bhishma, O Srinjayas, in this battle. Placing Shikhandin in front, we shall surely conquer Bhishma."
