त्यक्त्वा मन्युम् उपशाम्यस्व पार्थैः; पर्याप्तम् एतद् यत् कृतं फल्गुनेन ॥
भीष्मस्यान्ताद् अस्तु वः सौहृदं वा; संप्रश्लेषः साधु राजन् प्रसीद ॥
राज्यस्यार्धं दीयतां पाण्डवानाम्; इन्द्रप्रस्थं धर्मराजो ऽनुशास्तु ॥
मा मित्रध्रुक् पार्थिवानां जघन्यः; पापां कीर्तिं प्राप्स्यसे कौरवेन्द्र ॥
ममावसानाच् छान्तिर् अस्तु प्रजानां; संगच्छन्तां पार्थिवाः प्रीतिमन्तः ॥
पिता पुत्रं मातुलं भागिनेयो; भ्राता चैव भ्रातरं प्रैतु राजन् ॥
न चेद् एवं प्राप्तकालं वचो मे; मोहाविष्टः प्रतिपत्स्यस्य् अबुद्ध्या ॥
भीष्मस्यान्ताद् एतदन्ताः स्थ सर्वे; सत्याम् एतां भारतीम् ईरयामि ॥
एतद् वाक्यं सौहृदाद् आपगेयो; मध्ये राज्ञां भारतं श्रावयित्वा ॥
तूष्णीम् आसीच् छल्यसंतप्तमर्मा; यत्वात्मानं वेदनां संनिगृह्य ॥

mamāvasānāc chāntir astu prajānāṃ; saṃgacchantāṃ pārthivāḥ prītimantaḥ ||
pitā putraṃ mātulaṃ bhāgineyo; bhrātā caiva bhrātaraṃ praitu rājan ||
na ced evaṃ prāptakālaṃ vaco me; mohāviṣṭaḥ pratipatsyasy abuddhyā ||
bhīṣmasyāntād etadantāḥ stha sarve; satyām etāṃ bhāratīm īrayāmi ||
etad vākyaṃ sauhṛdād āpageyo; madhye rājñāṃ bhārataṃ śrāvayitvā ||
tūṣṇīm āsīc chalyasaṃtaptamarmā; yatvātmānaṃ vedanāṃ saṃnigṛhya ||

वः सौहृदम् वाvaḥ sauhṛdam vāyour friendship indeed; your mutual goodwill
संप्रश्लेषः साधु राजन्saṃpraśleṣaḥ sādhu rājanreconciliation, good, O king; reunion, well, O king
प्रसीदprasīdabe gracious; relent
राज्यस्य अर्धम् दीयताम्rājyasya ardham dīyatāmlet half the kingdom be given; give half the realm
पाण्डवानाम्pāṇḍavānāmto the Pandavas; to the sons of Pandu
इन्द्रप्रस्थम् धर्मराजःindraprastham dharmarājaḥIndraprastha, let Dharmaraja; let the king of righteousness over Indraprastha
अनुशास्तुanuśāsturule; govern
मा मित्रध्रुक् पार्थिवानाम्mā mitradhruk pārthivānāmdo not be a betrayer of friends among kings; do not become an enemy of allies
जघन्यःjaghanyaḥthe lowest; the last

यत्वा आत्मानम्yatvā ātmānamhaving restrained himself; having mastered himself
वेदनाम् संनिगृह्यvedanām saṃnigṛhyahaving suppressed the pain; having held back the suffering
अनुवाद

"Abandon your anger and make peace with the sons of Pritha. What Phalguna has done is enough. With Bhishma's passing, let your friendship and reconciliation come about; this is good, O king — be gracious. Let half the kingdom be given to the Pandavas, and let Dharmaraja rule Indraprastha. Do not become, O lord of the Kauravas, the lowest among kings, a betrayer of friends: otherwise you will gain an evil renown. With my passing, let there be peace for the people. Let the kings come together full of affection toward one another; let father draw near to son, nephew to uncle, and brother to brother, O king. But if, overcome by delusion, you unwisely reject this timely word of mine, then after Bhishma's end you shall all meet the same end. I speak this true word of the Bharatas." Having spoken these words out of friendship and made Duryodhana hear them among the kings, the son of the river fell silent, his vital points tormented by the darts, having mastered himself and held back his pain.
