यासौ वर्षसहस्रान्ते मूर्तिर् उत्तिष्ठते मम ॥
वरार्हेभ्यो वराञ् श्रेष्ठांस् तस्मिन् काले ददाति सा ॥
तं तु कालम् अनुप्राप्तं विदित्वा पृथिवी तदा ॥
प्रायाचत वरं यं मां नरकार्थाय तं शृणु ॥
देवानाम् असुराणां च अवध्यस् तनयो ऽस्तु मे ॥
उपेतो वैष्णवास्त्रेण तन् मे त्वं दातुम् अर्हसि ॥

varārhebhyo varāñ śreṣṭhāṃs tasmin kāle dadāti sā ||
taṃ tu kālam anuprāptaṃ viditvā pṛthivī tadā ||
prāyācata varaṃ yaṃ māṃ narakārthāya taṃ śṛṇu ||
devānām asurāṇāṃ ca avadhyas tanayo 'stu me ||
upeto vaiṣṇavāstreṇa tan me tvaṃ dātum arhasi ||

अनुवाद

That form of mine which awakens at the end of a thousand years bestows, in that season, the finest gifts upon those worthy of them. Knowing that season had come, Earth then begged of me a boon — hear now, for Naraka's sake, what it was. 'Let my son be unkillable by gods and asuras, and endowed with the weapon of Vishnu; be pleased to grant me this.'
