तं तथाभिप्रशंसन्तम् अर्जुनं कुपितस् तदा ॥
द्रोणं तव सुतो राजन् पुनर् एवेदम् अब्रवीत् ॥
अहं दुःशासनः कर्णः शकुनिर् मातुलश् च मे ॥
हनिष्यामो ऽर्जुनं संख्ये द्वैधीकृत्याद्य भारतीम् ॥
तस्य तद् वचनं श्रुत्वा भारद्वाजो हसन्न् इव ॥
अन्ववर्तत राजानं स्वस्ति ते ऽस्त्व् इति चाब्रवीत् ॥
को हि गाण्डीवधन्वानं ज्वलन्तम् इव तेजसा ॥
अक्षयं क्षपयेत् कश् चित् क्षत्रियः क्षत्रियर्षभम् ॥

haniṣyāmo 'rjunaṃ saṃkhye dvaidhīkṛtyādya bhāratīm ||
tasya tad vacanaṃ śrutvā bhāradvājo hasann iva ||
anvavartata rājānaṃ svasti te 'stv iti cābravīt ||
ko hi gāṇḍīvadhanvānaṃ jvalantam iva tejasā ||
akṣayaṃ kṣapayet kaś cit kṣatriyaḥ kṣatriyarṣabham ||

शकुनिः मातुलः च मेśakuniḥ mātulaḥ ca meand Shakuni, my uncle; and Shakuni, my uncle
हनिष्यामः अर्जुनम् संख्येhaniṣyāmaḥ arjunam saṃkhyewe shall slay Arjuna in battle; we shall slay Arjuna in battle
द्वैधीकृत्य अद्य भारतीम्dvaidhīkṛtya adya bhāratīmdividing in two now the Bharata [army]; dividing now the Bharata army in two
तस्य तत् वचनम् श्रुत्वाtasya tat vacanam śrutvāhaving heard his that word; having heard that word of his
भारद्वाजः हसन् इवbhāradvājaḥ hasan ivaBharadvaja, as if laughing; Bharadvaja, as though laughing
अन्ववर्तत राजानम्anvavartata rājānamagreed with the king; yielded to the king
स्वस्ति ते अस्तु इतिsvasti te astu iti'may good fortune be to you'; 'may good fortune be to you'
च अब्रवीत्ca abravītand said; thus he spoke
कः हि गाण्डीवधन्वानम्kaḥ hi gāṇḍīvadhanvānamwho indeed the Gandiva-bowman; for who could the Gandiva-wielder
ज्वलन्तम् इव तेजसाjvalantam iva tejasāblazing [as] with power; blazing, as though with power
अनुवाद

"...was destroyed by the son of Pandu, of us who had striven, O lord of the peoples." Him, who had thus extolled Arjuna, your son, angered then at Drona, O king, again spoke thus: "I, Duhshasana, Karna, and Shakuni, my uncle, shall slay Arjuna in battle, dividing now the Bharata army in two." Having heard that word of his, Bharadvaja, as though laughing, yielded to the king and said: "May good fortune be to you." Thus he spoke: "For who could the wielder of Gandiva, blazing, as though with power..."
