देवनागरी
सवित्रा प्रसवेन जुषेत ब्रह्म पूर्व्यम् ।
तत्र योनिं कृणवसे नहि ते पूर्तम् अक्षिपत्

अनुवाद
By the impulsion of Savitṛ let him love the ancient sacred word. Make yourself a womb in it: for what you have fulfilled will not be lost.

The verb juṣeta is the same that stood in the decisive mantra of the first adhyāya, where the liberated one is called juṣṭaḥ, "favoured". The root means both "to love" and "to receive with liking". Here it is turned toward us: not merely "study" the sacred word, but love it. The relation to śāstra is described in the language of affection, not of duty.
"Make yourself a womb in it", yonim kṛṇavase, is a strong and exact image. A yoni is the place where life is conceived and carried. To make the ancient word one's womb means to settle in it so that it gives birth to you anew: not to visit it, but to live in it.
And the promise with which the mantra ends is among the most consoling in śruti: "what you have fulfilled will not be lost". The word pūrta means a good deed performed: a well dug, food given away, a vow kept. None of this is discarded or lost on the way.
Vedānta will later unfold this into a whole teaching: the effort of spiritual life is not lost even in apparent failure, because it wears away the layer of hindrance and carries over into the next birth. Here the same thought is said in one line — and said as encouragement to one who is only just harnessing his mind.
Note the order too: first "by the impulsion of Savitṛ", and only then our "love" and "make". Even the love of the word does not begin with us.
