"The campū of blissful Vṛndāvana" — Kavi Karṇapūra's poem in prose and verse on Kṛṣṇa's life in Vraja: from the description of Vṛndāvana and Kṛṣṇa's birth through the childhood pastimes — Pūtanā, the cart, the earth he ate, the twin trees, Brahmā bewildered, Kāliya subdued — to the first love of the gopīs, the first meeting with Rādhā and the stealing of the clothes. Karṇapūra was the son of Śivānanda Sena, a companion of Caitanya; his prose is among the most intricate in Sanskrit poetry, nearly every word playing on two senses.
