तं प्रजाः प्रतिमोदन्त्यः सर्वाः प्रत्युद्ययुस् तदा ॥
विपाप्मानं महात्मानं दिवौकस इवेश्वरम् ॥
अचिरात् स मनुष्येन्द्रो नगरीं पुण्यकर्मणाम् ॥
विवेश सहितस् तेन वसिष्ठेन महात्मना ॥
ददृशुस् तं ततो राजन्न् अयोध्यावासिनो जनाः ॥
पुष्येण सहितं काले दिवाकरम् इवोदितम् ॥
स हि तां पूरयाम् आस लक्ष्म्या लक्ष्मीवतां वरः ॥
अयोध्यां व्योम शीतांशुः शरत्काल इवोदितः ॥

acirāt sa manuṣyendro nagarīṃ puṇyakarmaṇām ||

puṣyeṇa sahitaṃ kāle divākaram ivoditam ||
sa hi tāṃ pūrayām āsa lakṣmyā lakṣmīvatāṃ varaḥ ||
ayodhyāṃ vyoma śītāṃśuḥ śaratkāla ivoditaḥ ||
"All his rejoicing subjects then went forth to meet him, now sinless, great of soul, as the celestials go to meet their lord. Soon that lord of men entered the city of people of holy deeds together with the great-souled Vasishtha. The people of Ayodhya saw him, O king, as the sun rising at the time of the Pushya constellation; for he, foremost in beauty, filled Ayodhya with splendor, as the autumn moon fills the sky."

Here the people joyfully welcome their purified sovereign. It is telling that the subjects rejoice at the return of a king now sinless: freed from evil, he is once again dear to his people, like the sun after an eclipse. The purification of the ruler is a joy for all: with the healing of the sovereign, the realm too is healed. Thus the text shows how one man's deliverance is answered by the rejoicing of many; and Ayodhya, receiving its reborn king, shines once more.
