रोहिणी च यथा सोमे दमयन्ती यथा नले ॥
यथा वैश्रवणे भद्रा वसिष्ठे चाप्य् अरुन्धती ॥
यथा नारायणे लक्ष्मीस् तथा त्वं भव भर्तृषु ॥

Kunti said: "As Indrani is to Indra, and Svaha to Agni, and Rohini to Soma, Damayanti to Nala, as Bhadra is to Kubera and Arundhati to Vasishtha, as Lakshmi is to Narayana -- so may you be to your husbands."

Here the blessing points to the ideal of the devoted wife -- the pativrata. It is significant that the series culminates in "Lakshmi to Narayana": the highest image of conjugal devotion is the eternal companion of the Lord beside the Lord Himself. Earthly marriage is meant to reflect that transcendent union, where the wife is devotion and the husband its object. Thus the scripture shows the ideal of the pativrata, and Draupadi is blessed with a fidelity like that of Shri.
