ततः स्त्रियस् ता भूतं च सर्वम् अन्तरधीयत ॥
ततः पितामहः साक्षाद् अभिगम्य महासुरौ ॥
वरेण छन्दयाम् आस सर्वलोकपितामहः ॥

Here the austerity overcomes the Grandsire himself -- he descends with a boon. It is telling that Brahma himself comes to the ascetics: the diligence of tapas holds power even over the creator, by the very law he himself established. Here is the lesson: the Lord remains faithful to his own ordinance, by which austerity bears fruit. Thus the scripture shows the inevitability of the reward for tapas; and the fateful boon is about to be asked.
