प्राणकृच्छ्राद् विमुक्तं त्वम् आत्मानं मन्यसे मया ॥
एवं गते न शक्ष्यामि किं चित् कारयितुं त्वया ॥
न चापि तव संकल्पं मोघम् इच्छामि दानव ॥
कृष्णस्य क्रियतां किं चित् तथा प्रतिकृतं मयि ॥

译文
Arjuna said: "You consider yourself freed from mortal danger -- by me; in that case I shall not be able to make you do anything for me. And yet I do not wish your intention to be in vain, O danava: do something for Krishna -- thus it will be repaid to me as well."

Here Arjuna turns the gift toward Krishna -- and in this the heart of the devotee is revealed. It is significant that he accepts service to the Lord as the highest payment to himself: 'do something for Krishna -- thus it is repaid to me as well.' The devotee does not separate his own good from the good of the Lord; to please Krishna is the friend's true reward. Thus scripture shows that love for God stands above every personal recompense; and Krishna considers where to direct Maya.
