येन अभिषिक्तः नृपतिःyena abhiṣiktaḥ nṛpatiḥby which the anointed king
वारुणम् गुणम् ऋच्छतिvāruṇam guṇam ṛcchatiattains the quality of Varuna, —
तेन राजा अपि सन् कृत्स्नम्tena rājā api san kṛtsnamfor that, being a king, wholly
सम्राट्-गुणम् अभीप्सतिsamrāṭ-guṇam abhīpsatithe quality of a sovereign he desires;
तस्य सम्राट्-गुण-अर्हस्यtasya samrāṭ-guṇa-arhasyayou, worthy of the quality of a sovereign,
भवतः कुरु-नन्दनbhavataḥ kuru-nandanaO joy of the Kurus,
राजसूयस्य समयम्rājasūyasya samayamfor the Rajasuya the time
मन्यन्ते सुहृदः तवmanyante suhṛdaḥ tavayour friends already deem [to have come];
तस्य यज्ञस्य समयःtasya yajñasya samayaḥthe time of that sacrifice
स्वाधीनः क्षत्र-संपदाsvādhīnaḥ kṣatra-saṃpadādepends on the wealth of a kshatriya,
साम्ना षट् अग्नयः यस्मिन्sāmnā ṣaṭ agnayaḥ yasminin which the six fires by chant [saman]
चीयन्ते संशित-व्रतैःcīyante saṃśita-vrataiḥare kindled by those firm in their vows;

Here the counselors point to worthiness, not to fame alone. It is telling that they remind him: the time of sacrifice depends on "the wealth of a kshatriya" — that is, on earned strength, not on whim. Thus the scripture shows that great right is gained by worthiness, not by desire alone; and they continue.
