तद् वृत्तं तु त्रयोदश्यां समवेतं महात्मनोः ॥
चतुर्दश्यां निशायां तु निवृत्तो मागधः क्लमात् ॥

译文
Beginning on the first day of the month of Karttika, the battle continued unceasingly, day and night, without rest. This combat of the two great-souled ones went on unbroken through the thirteenth day as well; but on the fourteenth night the Magadhan withdrew from exhaustion.

Thirteen days of unbroken strife without sleep or rest — a measure surpassing all that is human. It is significant that Jarasandha is the first to grow weary: the one who seemed unconquerable reveals his limit in time. The body, born in two halves and joined together (as told in the chapters of his birth), at the end of its span again shows its brokenness. The verse teaches: all that has no anchor in the eternal wears out; and even the most stubborn strength, lacking blessing, yields in its hour.
