The listener's insatiability for the deeds of his ancestors is no idle curiosity but the soul's hunger for what is worthy. It is notable that the recounting of the righteous produces not satiety but a growing thirst: that which is truly great never grows stale. The verse teaches that remembrance of glorious deeds purifies and elevates the listener; and one who is never sated hearing of righteousness is already, in heart, a partaker of it — for the food we desire is the food toward which our true nature draws us.
