धाता एव खलु भूतानाम् सुखदुःखे प्रियाप्रिये दधाति सर्वम् ईशानः पुरस्तात् शुक्रम् उच्चरन्dhātā eva khalu bhūtānām sukhaduḥkhe priyāpriye dadhāti sarvam īśānaḥ purastāt śukram uccaranDhatri alone, the lord, first emitting the seed, ordains for beings happiness and grief, the pleasant and the unpleasant
यथा दारुमयी योषा नरवीर समाहिता ईरयति अङ्गम् अङ्गानि तथा राजन् इमाः प्रजाःyathā dārumayī yoṣā naravīra samāhitā īrayati aṅgam aṅgāni tathā rājan imāḥ prajāḥas a wooden woman, arranged by art, O hero, moves her limbs, so, O king, do these creatures
आकाशः इव भूतानि व्याप्य सर्वाणि भारत ईश्वरः विदधाति इह कल्याणम् यत् च पापकम्ākāśaḥ iva bhūtāni vyāpya sarvāṇi bhārata īśvaraḥ vidadhāti iha kalyāṇam yat ca pāpakamas space, pervading all beings, so Ishvara here ordains both the good and the evil, O Bharata
शकुनिः तन्तुबद्धः वा नियतः अयम् अनीश्वरः ईश्वरस्य वशे तिष्ठन् न अन्येषाम् न आत्मनः प्रभुःśakuniḥ tantubaddhaḥ vā niyataḥ ayam anīśvaraḥ īśvarasya vaśe tiṣṭhan na anyeṣām na ātmanaḥ prabhuḥlike a bird tied by a thread, this man is bound and has no power; standing in Ishvara's power, he is master neither of others nor of himself
मणिः सूत्रे इव प्रोतः नस्योतः इव गोवृषः धातुः आदेशम् अन्वेति तन्मयः हि तदर्पणःmaṇiḥ sūtre iva protaḥ nasyotaḥ iva govṛṣaḥ dhātuḥ ādeśam anveti tanmayaḥ hi tadarpaṇaḥlike a bead strung on a thread, or a bull with a ring through its nose, he follows Dhatri's command, wholly made of him and offered up to him
न आत्माधीनः मनुष्यः अयम् कालम् भवति कम् चन स्रोतसः मध्यम् आपन्नः कूलात् वृक्षः इव च्युतःna ātmādhīnaḥ manuṣyaḥ ayam kālam bhavati kam cana srotasaḥ madhyam āpannaḥ kūlāt vṛkṣaḥ iva cyutaḥa man is never subject to his own will; he is like a tree fallen from the bank into the middle of a current

आर्यकर्मणि युञ्जानः पापे वा पुनर् ईश्वरः व्याप्य भूतानि चरते न च अयम् इति लक्ष्यतेāryakarmaṇi yuñjānaḥ pāpe vā punar īśvaraḥ vyāpya bhūtāni carate na ca ayam iti lakṣyateIshvara, having set beings to noble deeds or to sin, pervades and moves within them, yet is not perceived as being this
