ततः प्रयाते कौन्तेये वनम् मानुषवर्जितम् शङ्खानाम् पटहानाम् च शब्दः समभवत् दिविtataḥ prayāte kaunteye vanam mānuṣavarjitam śaṅkhānām paṭahānām ca śabdaḥ samabhavat divithen, when the son of Kunti had set out into the forest empty of men, a sound of conches and drums arose in the sky
पुष्पवर्षम् च सुमहत् निपपात महीतले मेघजालम् च विततम् छादयाम् आस सर्वतःpuṣpavarṣam ca sumahat nipapāta mahītale meghajālam ca vitatam chādayām āsa sarvataḥand a great rain of flowers fell upon the earth, and a spreading net of clouds covered everything on all sides
अतीत्य वनदुर्गाणि संनिकर्षे महागिरेः शुशुभे हिमवत्पृष्ठे वसमानः अर्जुनः तदाatītya vanadurgāṇi saṃnikarṣe mahāgireḥ śuśubhe himavatpṛṣṭhe vasamānaḥ arjunaḥ tadāhaving crossed the difficult tracts of the forest, then, dwelling on the slopes of Himavat near the great mountain, Arjuna shone forth
तत्र अपश्यत् द्रुमान् फुल्लान् विहगैः वल्गु नादितान् नदीः च बहुलावर्ताः नीलवैडूर्यसंनिभाःtatra apaśyat drumān phullān vihagaiḥ valgu nāditān nadīḥ ca bahulāvartāḥ nīlavaiḍūryasaṃnibhāḥthere he saw blossoming trees sweetly resounding with birds, and rivers with many whirlpools, resembling blue lapis lazuli
हंसकारण्डवोद्गीताः सारसाभिरुताः तथा पुंस्कोकिलरुताः च एव क्रौञ्चबर्हिणनादिताःhaṃsakāraṇḍavodgītāḥ sārasābhirutāḥ tathā puṃskokilarutāḥ ca eva krauñcabarhiṇanāditāḥsung by geese and karandavas, echoing with cranes, with the cries of male cuckoos, and resounding with the calls of krauncha birds and peacocks
