सर्वलोकस्य विदिता युगसंख्या च पाण्डव ॥
एतत् ते सर्वम् आख्यातम् अतीतानागतं मया ॥
वायुप्रोक्तम् अनुस्मृत्य पुराणम् ऋषिसंस्तुतम् ॥
एवं संसारमार्गा मे बहुशश् चिरजीविना ॥
दृष्टाश् चैवानुभूताश् च तांस् ते कथितवान् अहम् ॥
इदं चैवापरं भूयः सह भ्रातृभिर् अच्युत ॥
धर्मसंशयमोक्षार्थं निबोध वचनं मम ॥
धर्मे त्वयात्मा संयोज्यो नित्यं धर्मभृतां वर ॥
धर्मात्मा हि सुखं राजा प्रेत्य चेह च नन्दति ॥
निबोध च शुभां वाणीं यां प्रवक्ष्यामि ते ऽनघ ॥
न ब्राह्मणे परिभवः कर्तव्यस् ते कदा चन ॥
ब्राह्मणो रुषितो हन्याद् अपि लोकान् प्रतिज्ञया ॥
sarvalokasya viditā yugasaṃkhyā ca pāṇḍava ||
etat te sarvam ākhyātam atītānāgataṃ mayā ||
vāyuproktam anusmṛtya purāṇam ṛṣisaṃstutam ||
evaṃ saṃsāramārgā me bahuśaś cirajīvinā ||
dṛṣṭāś caivānubhūtāś ca tāṃs te kathitavān aham ||
idaṃ caivāparaṃ bhūyaḥ saha bhrātṛbhir acyuta ||
dharmasaṃśayamokṣārthaṃ nibodha vacanaṃ mama ||
dharme tvayātmā saṃyojyo nityaṃ dharmabhṛtāṃ vara ||
dharmātmā hi sukhaṃ rājā pretya ceha ca nandati ||
nibodha ca śubhāṃ vāṇīṃ yāṃ pravakṣyāmi te 'nagha ||
na brāhmaṇe paribhavaḥ kartavyas te kadā cana ||
brāhmaṇo ruṣito hanyād api lokān pratijñayā ||
"Kings will protect the earth in accordance with dharma; vaishyas will take up trade; brahmins will devote themselves to their six duties; kshatriyas to protection; shudras to serving the three varnas. Thus have I told you the dharma of the ages and the course of Kali, as it has been handed down in the Purana of Vayu. I have seen the paths of samsara. Therefore, Yudhishthira, bind yourself to dharma and never disregard a brahmin: an angered brahmin is capable of destroying worlds."
