कुन्त्य् उवाच
ब्राह्मणं यन्त्रिता राजन् उपस्थास्यामि पूजया ॥
यथाप्रतिज्ञं राजेन्द्र न च मिथ्या ब्रवीम्य् अहम् ॥
एष चैव स्वभावो मे पूजयेयं द्विजान् इति ॥
तव चैव प्रियं कार्यं श्रेयश् चैतत् परं मम ॥
यद्य् एवैष्यति सायाह्ने यदि प्रातर् अथो निशि ॥
यद्य् अर्धरात्रे भगवान् न मे कोपं करिष्यति ॥
लाभो ममैष राजेन्द्र यद् वै पूजयती द्विजान् ॥
आदेशे तव तिष्ठन्ती हितं कुर्यां नरोत्तम ॥
विस्रब्धो भव राजेन्द्र न व्यलीकं द्विजोत्तमः ॥
वसन् प्राप्स्यति ते गेहे सत्यम् एतद् ब्रवीमि ते ॥
यत् प्रियं च द्विजस्यास्य हितं चैव तवानघ ॥
यतिष्यामि तथा राजन् व्येतु ते मानसो ज्वरः ॥
ब्राह्मणा हि महाभागाः पूजिताः पृथिवीपते ॥
तारणाय समर्थाः स्युर् विपरीते वधाय च ॥
साहम् एतद् विजानन्ती तोषयिष्ये द्विजोत्तमम् ॥
न मत्कृते व्यथां राजन् प्राप्स्यसि द्विजसत्तमात् ॥
अपराधे हि राजेन्द्र राज्ञाम् अश्रेयसे द्विजाः ॥
भवन्ति च्यवनो यद्वत् सुकन्यायाः कृते पुरा ॥
नियमेन परेणाहम् उपस्थास्ये द्विजोत्तमम् ॥
यथा त्वया नरेन्द्रेदं भाषितं ब्राह्मणं प्रति ॥

tāraṇāya samarthāḥ syur viparīte vadhāya ca ||
sāham etad vijānantī toṣayiṣye dvijottamam ||
na matkṛte vyathāṃ rājan prāpsyasi dvijasattamāt ||
aparādhe hi rājendra rājñām aśreyase dvijāḥ ||
bhavanti cyavano yadvat sukanyāyāḥ kṛte purā ||
niyamena pareṇāham upasthāsye dvijottamam ||
yathā tvayā narendredaṃ bhāṣitaṃ brāhmaṇaṃ prati ||

译文

Kunti said: 'O king, being restrained, I will respectfully serve the brahmana according to my promise, and I will not speak falsely. It is my nature to honor the twice-born, and it is my duty to do what pleases you; this is my highest good. Whether the blessed one comes in the evening, in the morning, at night, or at midnight, he will not be angry with me. This is a gain for me: standing under your command, I will honor the twice-born and do good. Be at ease, O king: the best of the twice-born will meet with nothing unpleasant in your house — this is true. Whatever pleases this brahmana and benefits you, I shall strive to accomplish; let the fever of your heart depart. Venerable brahmanas are able to save, and, if treated otherwise, to destroy — as Chyavana once did for the sake of Sukanya. Knowing this, I shall satisfy the best of the twice-born and serve him by the highest rule, as you have said.'
