द्रौपद्य् उवाच
अतीव तेषां घृणिनाम् अर्थे ऽहं धर्मचारिणी ॥
तस्य तस्येह ते वध्या येषां ज्येष्ठो ऽक्षदेविता ॥
वैशंपायन उवाच
इत्य् उक्त्वा प्राद्रवत् कृष्णा सुदेष्णाया निवेशनम् ॥
केशान् मुक्त्वा तु सुश्रोणी संरम्भाल् लोहितेक्षणा ॥
शुशुभे वदनं तस्या रुदन्त्या विरतं तदा ॥
मेघलेखाविनिर्मुक्तं दिवीव शशिमण्डलम् ॥
सुदेष्णोवाच
कस् त्वावधीद् वरारोहे कस्माद् रोदिषि शोभने ॥
कस्याद्य न सुखं भद्रे केन ते विप्रियं कृतम् ॥
द्रौपद्य् उवाच
कीचको मावधीत् तत्र सुराहारीं गतां तव ॥
सभायां पश्यतो राज्ञो यथैव विजने तथा ॥
सुदेष्णोवाच
घातयामि सुकेशान्ते कीचकं यदि मन्यसे ॥
यो ऽसौ त्वां कामसंमत्तो दुर्लभाम् अभिमन्यते ॥
द्रौपद्य् उवाच
अन्ये वै तं वधिष्यन्ति येषाम् आगः करोति सः ॥
मन्ये चाद्यैव सुव्यक्तं परलोकं गमिष्यति ॥

śuśubhe vadanaṃ tasyā rudantyā virataṃ tadā ||
meghalekhāvinirmuktaṃ divīva śaśimaṇḍalam ||
sudeṣṇovāca
kas tvāvadhīd varārohe kasmād rodiṣi śobhane ||
kasyādya na sukhaṃ bhadre kena te vipriyaṃ kṛtam ||
draupady uvāca
kīcako māvadhīt tatra surāhārīṃ gatāṃ tava ||
sabhāyāṃ paśyato rājño yathaiva vijane tathā ||
sudeṣṇovāca
ghātayāmi sukeśānte kīcakaṃ yadi manyase ||
yo 'sau tvāṃ kāmasaṃmatto durlabhām abhimanyate ||
draupady uvāca
anye vai taṃ vadhiṣyanti yeṣām āgaḥ karoti saḥ ||
manye cādyaiva suvyaktaṃ paralokaṃ gamiṣyati ||
Draupadi said: "It is for the sake of these all-too-pitiful men that I still walk the path of dharma. They deserve death, those whose eldest is a gambler." Vaishampayana said: So saying, Krishna ran to Sudeshna's dwelling, her hair loosened, the fair-hipped one, her eyes red with agitation. Her face, as she wept, shone then like the disk of the moon breaking free of a streak of cloud in the sky. Sudeshna said: "Who struck you, lovely one? Why do you weep, fair one? Whose happiness is spoiled today, gracious one? Who has done you wrong?" Draupadi said: "Kichaka struck me there, when I had gone for wine on your errand — in the assembly, before the king's eyes, just as if we were alone." Sudeshna said: "Lovely-haired one, if you wish it, I will have Kichaka killed — he who, maddened with desire, deems you attainable, though you are beyond his reach." Draupadi said: "Others, truly, will kill him, those against whom he has sinned. I think that even today he will go, quite plainly, to the next world."
