When the ruler of men, Aushinara, had spoken these words full of good meaning, Galava, the best of the twice-born, paid him honor. Having given the maiden over to Aushinara, Galava departed into the forest. Having attained her, he took his delight, like a man of accumulated merit who has attained Shri herself — in mountain caverns, at the waterfalls of rivers, in wondrous gardens, in forests and groves, in delightful mansions, on the tops of palaces, in airy pavilions, and in inner chambers. Then, in due time, a son was born to him, radiant as the young sun, renowned by the name of Shibi, who became the foremost of earthly rulers.

The birth of Shibi completes the union of Aushinara and Madhavi. The description of the places of pleasure emphasizes the fullness of royal life, yet its outcome is not pleasure for its own sake but the birth of a son who will be remembered as the foremost of rulers. Thus the dharma of the lineage proves greater than any brief possession.
