नारद उवाच
प्रत्यभिज्ञातमात्रो ऽथ सद्भिस् तैर् नरपुंगवः ॥
ययातिर् दिव्यसंस्थानो बभूव विगतज्वरः ॥
दिव्यमाल्याम्बरधरो दिव्याभरणभूषितः ॥
दिव्यगन्धगुणोपेतो न पृथ्वीम् अस्पृशत् पदा ॥
ततो वसुमनाः पूर्वम् उच्चैर् उच्चारयन् वचः ॥
ख्यातो दानपतिर् लोके व्याजहार नृपं तदा ॥
प्राप्तवान् अस्मि यल् लोके सर्ववर्णेष्व् अगर्हया ॥
तद् अप्य् अथ च दास्यामि तेन संयुज्यतां भवान् ॥
यत् फलं दानशीलस्य क्षमाशीलस्य यत् फलम् ॥
यच् च मे फलम् आधाने तेन संयुज्यतां भवान् ॥

yayātir divyasaṃsthāno babhūva vigatajvaraḥ ||
divyamālyāmbaradharo divyābharaṇabhūṣitaḥ ||
divyagandhaguṇopeto na pṛthvīm aspṛśat padā ||
tato vasumanāḥ pūrvam uccair uccārayan vacaḥ ||
khyāto dānapatir loke vyājahāra nṛpaṃ tadā ||
prāptavān asmi yal loke sarvavarṇeṣv agarhayā ||
tad apy atha ca dāsyāmi tena saṃyujyatāṃ bhavān ||
yat phalaṃ dānaśīlasya kṣamāśīlasya yat phalam ||
yac ca me phalam ādhāne tena saṃyujyatāṃ bhavān ||
Narada said: «As soon as those worthy ones recognized him, O bull among men, Yayati attained a divine state and became free of suffering. He was clad in heavenly garlands and garments, adorned with heavenly ornaments, endowed with heavenly fragrance and virtues, and his foot did not touch the earth. Then Vasumanas, renowned in the world as a lord of giving, spoke first, uttering his words aloud, and addressed the king: 'Whatever I have blamelessly attained in the world among all the varnas, that I shall give to you; let your grace be joined with it. The fruit of one devoted to giving, the fruit of one devoted to forgiveness, and the fruit that is mine from kindling the sacrificial fire — let your grace be joined with that.'»
