अमित्राणां वशे स्थानं राज्यस्य च पुनर्भवः ॥
द्वाव् अर्थौ युध्यमानस्य तस्मात् कुरुत पौरुषम् ॥
अस्मान् वा त्वं पराजित्य प्रशाधि पृथिवीम् इमाम् ॥
अथ वा निहतो ऽस्माभिर् वीरलोकं गमिष्यसि ॥
राष्ट्रात् प्रव्राजनं क्लेशं वनवासं च पाण्डव ॥
कृष्णायाश् च परिक्लेशं संस्मरन् पुरुषो भव ॥
अप्रियाणां च वचने प्रव्रजत्सु पुनः पुनः ॥
अमर्षं दर्शयाद्य त्वम् अमर्षो ह्य् एव पौरुषम् ॥
क्रोधो बलं तथा वीर्यं ज्ञानयोगो ऽस्त्रलाघवम् ॥
इह ते पार्थ दृश्यन्तां संग्रामे पुरुषो भव ॥

amarṣaṃ darśayādya tvam amarṣo hy eva pauruṣam ||
krodho balaṃ tathā vīryaṃ jñānayogo 'stralāghavam ||
iha te pārtha dṛśyantāṃ saṃgrāme puruṣo bhava ||
"For one who fights there are two ends: to fall under the power of his enemies, or to regain his kingdom. Therefore show your manly effort. Either defeat us and rule this earth, or, slain by us, you will go to the world of heroes. O Pandava, remembering the exile from the kingdom, the hardship, the forest exile, and the torment of Krishna-Draupadi, be a man. Remembering the unpleasant words spoken to you again and again as you went into exile, show today your wrathful indignation — for such indignation is itself manly courage. Let your anger, strength, valor, mastery of knowledge, and lightness in the use of weapons be seen here, O Partha, in battle. Be a man."
