译文

O Kaurava, this island is known, in its length and its lesser measure, by comparison with Jambudvipa. At its center stands a great tree named Shaka, standing in the middle of this island, O great king. There are holy countries there; there Shankara is worshipped. There siddhas, charanas, and deities go. The people there, O king, are righteous, and the four varnas, O Bharata, are in the highest degree devoted to their own duties; no thief is to be seen there. They are long-lived, O great king, free from old age and death. The people there flourish like rivers flowing to the ocean in the season of rains. There are rivers there with holy waters, and the Ganga flows in many streams: Sukumari, Kumari, Sita, Kaveraka, Mahanadi, O Kaurava, Manijala, and Ikshuvardhanika, O best of the Bharatas. From there, O upholder of the Kuru line, hundreds of thousands of holy-watered rivers flowed forth, for it is from there that Indra sends down rain. It is impossible to fully enumerate their names and their measures, for these holy rivers are the finest of streams.
