क्रौञ्चद्वीपे महाराज क्रौञ्चो नाम महागिरिः ॥
क्रौञ्चात् परो वामनको वामनाद् अन्धकारकः ॥
अन्धकारात् परो राजन् मैनाकः पर्वतोत्तमः ॥
मैनाकात् परतो राजन् गोविन्दो गिरिर् उत्तमः ॥
गोविन्दात् तु परो राजन् निबिडो नाम पर्वतः ॥
परस् तु द्विगुणस् तेषां विष्कम्भो वंशवर्धन ॥
देशांस् तत्र प्रवक्ष्यामि तन् मे निगदतः शृणु ॥
क्रौञ्चस्य कुशलो देशो वामनस्य मनोनुगः ॥
मनोनुगात् परश् चोष्णो देशः कुरुकुलोद्वह ॥
उष्णात् परः प्रावरकः प्रावराद् अन्धकारकः ॥
अन्धकारकदेशात् तु मुनिदेशः परः स्मृतः ॥
मुनिदेशात् परश् चैव प्रोच्यते दुन्दुभिस्वनः ॥
सिद्धचारणसंकीर्णो गौरप्रायो जनाधिप ॥
एते देशा महाराज देवगन्धर्वसेविताः ॥
krauñcadvīpe mahārāja krauñco nāma mahāgiriḥ ||
krauñcāt paro vāmanako vāmanād andhakārakaḥ ||
andhakārāt paro rājan mainākaḥ parvatottamaḥ ||
mainākāt parato rājan govindo girir uttamaḥ ||
govindāt tu paro rājan nibiḍo nāma parvataḥ ||
paras tu dviguṇas teṣāṃ viṣkambho vaṃśavardhana ||
deśāṃs tatra pravakṣyāmi tan me nigadataḥ śṛṇu ||
krauñcasya kuśalo deśo vāmanasya manonugaḥ ||
manonugāt paraś coṣṇo deśaḥ kurukulodvaha ||
uṣṇāt paraḥ prāvarakaḥ prāvarād andhakārakaḥ ||
andhakārakadeśāt tu munideśaḥ paraḥ smṛtaḥ ||
munideśāt paraś caiva procyate dundubhisvanaḥ ||
siddhacāraṇasaṃkīrṇo gauraprāyo janādhipa ||
ete deśā mahārāja devagandharvasevitāḥ ||
In Krauncadvipa, O great king, there is a great mountain called Kraunca. Beyond Kraunca lies Vamanaka, beyond Vamanaka lies Andhakaraka; beyond Andhakaraka, O king, is the finest mountain Mainaka; farther than Mainaka, O king, is the excellent mountain Govinda; beyond Govinda, O king, is the mountain called Nibida. Their breadth, O increaser of the lineage, doubles each time. Now I shall tell of the countries of this dvīpa; listen as I recount them. Near Kraunca lies the country of Kushala, near Vamanaka lies Manonuga; beyond Manonuga, O upholder of the Kuru line, lies Ushna; beyond Ushna lies Pravaraka, beyond Pravara lies Andhakaraka. Beyond the country of Andhakaraka is reckoned the country of the munis, and beyond the country of the munis is one called Dundubhisvana. These countries, O great king, are filled with siddhas and charanas, their people are mostly fair, and they are frequented by gods and gandharvas.'
