译文

"Except for action performed for the sake of sacrifice, this world is bound by karma. Therefore, O son of Kunti, perform action for its sake, free from attachment. In the beginning, having created beings together with sacrifice, Prajapati said: 'By this, multiply; let it be for you a source of desired blessings. By this sustain the gods, and may the gods sustain you; sustaining one another, you shall attain the highest good. The gods, nourished by sacrifice, will give you the blessings you desire. But whoever partakes of what they have given without offering it back to them is indeed a thief.' The righteous, who eat the remnants of sacrifice, are freed from all sins; but sinners, who cook only for themselves, eat nothing but sin. Living beings are sustained by food, food is born of rain, rain arises from sacrifice, and sacrifice is born of prescribed action. Know that prescribed action arises from Brahman, and Brahman proceeds from the imperishable; therefore the all-pervading Brahman is eternally established in sacrifice. Whoever in this world does not follow this wheel thus set in motion lives in vain, O son of Pritha: his life is sinful, and he delights only in the senses."
