译文

Shri Bhagavan said: "The faith of embodied beings is of three kinds and is born from their own nature: sattvic, rajasic, and tamasic. Hear of it. O Bharata, everyone's faith corresponds to their inner nature. A person consists of faith: whatever his faith is, that is what he is. People of goodness worship the gods, people of passion worship yakshas and rakshasas, and people of darkness worship pretas and hosts of spirits. Those people who practice terrible austerity not prescribed by the shastra, filled with ostentation and egoism, driven by the force of desire and attachment, unwisely wasting away the bodily composite and Me, who dwell within the body — know that they hold to a demonic conviction."
