After this, King Yudhishthira, rejoicing together with his younger brothers, took up again his armor, radiant and gleaming with gold. All those bulls among men remounted their own chariots, and they arrayed the formation once more as before. Kettledrums sounded, and hundreds of drums, and the finest of men let out various lion-roars. Seeing the Pandavas, those tigers among men, once again standing upon their chariots, the kings led by Dhrishtadyumna rejoiced anew with delight. The earthly lords, having seen the reverence of the sons of Pandu and how they honored the worthy, praised them greatly. The kings spoke of the friendliness, the compassion, the timely gentleness of great souls, and the deep pity for kinsmen. Everywhere resounded words of praise, "Well done! Excellent!" The sacred words of the renowned gladdened mind and heart. Both mlecchas and aryas who saw and heard of this deed of the sons of Pandu wept, their voices faltering. Then the joyful and spirited heroes struck the great drums, hundreds of pushkaras, and blew conches white as cow's milk.

The chapter closes with a recognition of the moral beauty in Yudhishthira's act. Before the bloodshed begins, the Pandavas affirm that their strength rests not on hatred but on reverence, compassion, and fidelity to dharma.
