Bhishma said: 'Hear also, great king, my hymn to the Brahman-being, which was told on earth long ago by brahmarshis and gods. Narada called You the Lord of the lords of the gods, even among the Sadhyas — the Master who knows the being and becoming of the worlds. Markandeya proclaimed You as the past, the present, and the future. The blessed Bhrigu called You the sacrifice among sacrifices, the austerity among austerities, and the God of gods. In the ancient lore You, O Vishnu, are called the terrible form and the lord of beings. Dvaipayana said: "You are Vasudeva among the Vasus, You establish Shakra, You are the God of gods." In the former creations of beings, Daksha was called Prajapati; then Angiras called You the Creator of all beings. Asita Devala said: "The unmanifest arose from Your body, the manifest abides in Your mind, and the gods were born from speech." Your head encompasses heaven, Your arms uphold the earth, the three worlds are Your belly; You are the eternal Purusha. Thus You are known by men purified through austerity, and by the best of the sages who are content with the vision of the Atman. For the noble royal sages who do not retreat in battle and who are foremost in every dharma, You are the refuge, Madhusudana. Here, my son, the truth about Keshava has been declared both at length and in brief; be truly devoted to Keshava.'

The hymn gathers the testimony of Narada, Markandeya, Bhrigu, Vyasa, Angiras, and Asita Devala. Bhishma shows Duryodhana that Keshava's greatness is not a private opinion but the concordant knowledge of sages and gods.
