भ्रातुस् तद् वचनं श्रुत्वा पुत्रो दुःशासनस् तव ॥
भीष्मं प्रमुखतः कृत्वा प्रययौ सेनया सह ॥
भीष्मं तु रथवंशेन दृष्ट्वा तम् अभिसंवृतम् ॥
अर्जुनो रथिनां श्रेष्ठो धृष्टद्युम्नम् उवाच ह ॥
शिखण्डिनं नरव्याघ्र भीष्मस्य प्रमुखे ऽनघ ॥
स्थापयस्वाद्य पाञ्चाल्य तस्य गोप्ताहम् अप्य् उत ॥

译文

Sanjaya said: 'Having heard his brother's words, your son Duhshasana placed Bhishma at the front and set out together with the army. But when Arjuna, best of charioteers, saw that Bhishma was surrounded by a line of chariots, he said to Dhrishtadyumna: "O tiger among men, blameless Panchalya, place Shikhandin today opposite Bhishma. I myself will be his protector."'

注释

Both sides grasp the key of the day with equal clarity. Duhshasana brings Bhishma out under guard, and Arjuna answers at once by setting Shikhandin before him and taking his protection upon himself.
