译文

Then Bhishma, son of Shantanu, seeing his army in flight, surrounded Saubhadra with a great array of chariots. The mighty chariot-warriors of Dhritarashtra, hemming in that hero, many against one, harshly cut at him with their arrows. But this hero among charioteers, equal in prowess to his father and matching Vasudeva in courage and strength, the finest of all who bear weapons, performed in battle deeds of many kinds, resembling the feats of his father and his maternal uncle. Then Dhananjaya, O king, cutting down your soldiers and unable to bear it in his eagerness to reach his son, drew near to Bhishma in battle. In the same way, O king, your father Devavrata drew near to Partha in the fight, as Svarbhanu draws near the sun. Then your sons, with their chariots, elephants, and horses, surrounded Bhishma in battle and guarded him on every side. So too the Pandavas, surrounding Dhananjaya, stood clad in armor, ready for the great battle, O bull of the Bharatas."
