संजय उवाच
ततस् ते सैनिकाः श्रुत्वा तं युधिष्ठिरनिग्रहम् ॥
सिंहनादरवांश् चक्रुर् बाणशङ्खरवैः सह ॥
तत् तु सर्वं यथावृत्तं धर्मराजेन भारत ॥
आप्तैर् आशु परिज्ञातं भारद्वाजचिकीर्षितम् ॥
ततः सर्वान् समानाय्य भ्रातॄन् सैन्यांश् च सर्वशः ॥
अब्रवीद् धर्मराजस् तु धनंजयम् इदं वचः ॥

tatas te sainikāḥ śrutvā taṃ yudhiṣṭhiranigraham ||
siṃhanādaravāṃś cakrur bāṇaśaṅkharavaiḥ saha ||
tat tu sarvaṃ yathāvṛttaṃ dharmarājena bhārata ||
āptair āśu parijñātaṃ bhāradvājacikīrṣitam ||
tataḥ sarvān samānāyya bhrātṝn sainyāṃś ca sarvaśaḥ ||
abravīd dharmarājas tu dhanaṃjayam idaṃ vacaḥ ||
Then those warriors, having learned of that [scheme] to capture Yudhishthira, raised lion-like war cries together with the din of arrows and conches. But all this, as it happened, O Bharata, was at once ascertained by Dharmaraja [Yudhishthira] through loyal [spies] — Drona's intent. Then, having summoned all his brothers and commanders from every side, Dharmaraja [Yudhishthira] spoke this word to Dhananjaya [Arjuna].

The scheme that the Kauravas loudly proclaim through their camps at once becomes known to Yudhishthira: treachery announced aloud ceases to be a secret weapon, and the noisy self-assurance of evil plays into the hands of vigilant truth. It is telling that the righteous man does not neglect intelligence-gathering — wisdom is not opposed to caution: trusting in dharma, Yudhishthira nonetheless learns the enemy's designs. The verse teaches that evil which boastfully proclaims its plans disarms itself; that vigilance and awareness are part of righteous order, not opposed to it; and that truth joined with prudent foresight meets treachery fully armed.
