Suta said: "That brahmin, together with his wife, having reached Garuda's throat, burned him like a blazing coal; and Garuda, the wanderer of the sky, said to him: 'O best of the twice-born, come out quickly from my open mouth; for no brahmin may be slain by me, even one forever given to sin.' To Garuda speaking thus, the brahmin said: 'This Nishada woman is my wife; let her come out together with me.' Garuda said: 'Take this Nishada woman too, and fly out swiftly; save yourself at once, before you are digested by my fire.' Suta said: 'Then that brahmin, together with the Nishada woman, came out, and, having blessed Garuda, went to the land of his desire. When the brahmin and his wife had come out, that king of birds spread his wings and, swift as thought, soared into the sky. Then he saw his father, and, being asked, told him: "I was sent by the serpents to fetch soma; today I shall bring it to free my mother from bondage. My mother has bidden me to eat Nishadas, but though I have eaten them by the thousand, I have not been satisfied. Therefore, lord, show me some other food, having eaten which I may be able to bring the amrita, O master."'"
